Under such a design education concept, "de-design" becomes a method, and the form and viewpoint of design are no longer the focus. We turn our attention to the design and development of visual programs. The standard of graduation works in the direction of integrated design is to use the background of the times as a premise, discover problems from one's own independent perspective, and use this as the content to design and produce visual programs and systems, and finally form a visual "product". Integrated design is a response to the homogenization of today's graphic design. This response is not confrontation or criticism, but recognition and acceptance, and it is a reflection of the overall design concept. When design is no longer bound by technology, profession, industry, form and other constraints, it will once again build a new dimension for our design education.
In previous design education, we have always been driven by the integration of science and technology. The problems brought about by the rapid development of the economy and society have become intuitive today. We need to use a more objective perspective to explore the humanistic issues in the era of science and technology. This year, I took "the literariness of design" as the theme to show the humanistic relationship between science and technology, economy, social development and design. 11 students, 11 groups of works, 11 symbols, 11 visual programs, they did not avoid any technology, form and profession, and responded to our confusion and exploration of design education and development with a "de-design" attitude.
Education has always been aimed at cultivating better people and more sound individuals. Bauhaus, Ulm, Chicago, like those short-lived and glorious schools in the history of design, design education must always maintain a balance between general education, design methods, and design thinking. Taking excellent colleges at home and abroad as an example, integrated design should never exist as a direction for graduation design. In the future, I hope it can develop into a system, as a larger teaching plan and entity, refine the problems of the times into directions, complete four years of teaching with a more open attitude, and cultivate individuals with comprehensive design capabilities and overall design concepts for the times.
